For Mary... WEEP NOT FOR ME Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness. Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms. I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs. Do not weep for me, for I am cradled in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars. Do not weep for me, for I am within you; I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand. Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me... with a smile and a sigh. © Joe Fazio

I was 14, almost 15, in the summer of 1963. I knew just a little about Peter, Paul, and Mary as we heard a few songs on the radio and an occasional appearance on television. I had never heard music like that. Mary had the voice like no other and every song was special. I remember saving my money to buy the original PP&M record album. That collection of songs was a real influence on whom I became. I still have my original album and it brings back great memories. The passing of Mary brought sadness to all. But what a life she lived! I believe that she enjoyed singing as much as we enjoyed listening. How many can say that they truly have given their best. Dave

I do not remember my first intro to PP&M, but I remember being awakened by a friend by The House Song On a huge stereo with Tube amp in the sixties and falling in love with that song and practically all others as well. I well remember Noel's intro of her as "last in the list of names, but first in the minds of all the men" who were there to here you perform. No other group has inspired or meant as much to me "Peter Pooh and Magpie" and I will miss her physical presence even as I continue to feel her presence. My sorrow extends to all who knew and loved her and were fortunate enough to be loved by her. Her generosity and love for those less fortunate will live through others that have beeen inspired by her. The world is a better place because of Mary Travers, and I am better person by virtue of her, and Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey as well. My thanks to you all and eternal gratitude that the Lord has given us you as proof of what we can and should be

I didn't realize I couldn't put an entire poem on here. Sorry for that confused beginning! I so much wished I could have been there Monday night. Certainly my heart was there.

I lit a special candle for Mary's birthday and watched PPM clips on Youtube all evening. I didn't sleep much - I was thinking about the memorial service and keeping a sort of vigil. Somehow I feel that I am embarking on some learning journey and I feel happy about it. At the same time I wish that we could have kept Mary a bit longer. I guess this is grieving. Every blessing to Mary Travers wherever she may be. Every blessing to all her family and friends in their deep sorrow. Love, Maddy

Hearing of her passing upset me so. Like numerous others I grew up with the trio. Her voice was like a bell ringing clearly above the din of everyday mediocrity. She was the "glue" that held together the trio, along with PUff I'm going to slip into my cave now with my head bent in sorrow.

If there were any way I could be in NY tonight, I would. Mary's voice and spirit have illuminated my life since 1963, when I was fourteen. I send this poem & my love and thanks. (The song lines should be italicized but that probably won't come through.) ********** A SONG WILL RISE (Mary Travers November 1936- September 2009) O Mary don’t you weep, don’t you mourn And when I die and when I’m dead, dead

it is still hard to believe that Mary is not physically with us...each and every day i listen to the sound tracks of my life...i have most of the albums/cds and all of the videos...Mary is/was filled with an energy few possess...i still have my tickets to the cancelled concert from ocean grove on my refrigerator door....this is the hardest non-friend/relative loss i have ever experienced and i am 63....my thoughts and prayers to Marys family and other loved ones...i, unfortunately, cannot make it to the memorial service in the city but i am hopeful that it will be recorded and available at some point on dvd for those of us who cherish Marys memory as if she was part of our family.

I will be with you in spirit during the memorial service. I am one of millions of fans that cannot get to Riverside Church and am hoping it will be broadcast somewhere for all of us to see.
